Here is an adorable 1959 American Character tiny Betsy McCall doll in her original "Recess" #8154 outfit.
She is wearing a sweet dark pink gingham dress with ric rac trim, matching panties, & original white shoes. She has a pretty face & a reddish wig with lots of original curl; her dark blue sleep eyes open & close easily. Her hard plastic body is in very nice clean condition; there are 2 tiny splits (< 1/8") on the mid lower edge of her left thigh. Her dress & panties are crisp & excellent with intact snaps in back. The vintage white strap rubber shoes are in great shape. She has the circular McCall Corp. stamp on her back.

I'm the original owner of the doll, and I was the child who cut out the paper dolls from the McCall's Magazine a very long time ago. I received the doll probably in 1959. My sister also got a Betsy McCall doll at the same time as I. I can't remember if it was my doll or my sister's doll that had broken legs at the knees, and my dad reglued them. I don't want to open the back of the wall art to check, so be aware that the legs may or may not have been repaired.
I know that the little 'swimming suit/underwear' is original to the doll. I'm not sure if the dress is or not.
Approximately 25 years ago, I had the doll and paper dolls professionally mounted and framed. The framed measurements are 20" x 16" x 2 3/4". It's in excellent condition. In the photos, it appears as if the mauve background is streaked, faded or wrinkled, but that's certainly not the case. It's just the glare from the glass.
The reason I'm selling this is because I'm downsizing.
